Vintage Cherry Amber Bakelite Faturan Bead Necklace – Tested Phenolic, Art Deco Style

This striking vintage necklace features large glossy cherry-red beads measuring approximately 26.9 mm each. The strand measures approximately 36 cm attached / 72 cm full length, creating a bold statement profile that drapes beautifully when worn.

The necklace has tested positive for phenolic resin (Bakelite family) using Simichrome polish, the standard non-destructive test. Under direct light the beads show the warm amber-to-honey translucency characteristic of "cherry amber" phenolic, with a luminous high-gloss finish and faint internal swirl visible in the larger beads. The strand has a solid weight of 69g, consistent with cast phenolic rather than lightweight modern plastic.

Each bead shows gentle surface character and age-appropriate wear consistent with a vintage hand-polished strand. The necklace is completed with an ornate filigree fish-hook clasp (unmarked) with aged patina, in a long-running period style.
