Each bead in this graduated necklace is natural polished pink opal, moving through cream, blush, peach and warm amber. No two beads are identical. No two ever could be. That is the nature of genuine stone and the quality that separates it from everything manufactured to look like it.

Between each opal bead sits a natural pyrite spacer. Dark, metallic and organic. The contrast between the warm blush tones of the opal and the cool metallic depth of the pyrite is not accidental. It is the mark of an artisan who understood materials at the level of the earth that formed them.

The construction is deliberate and considered. Beads graduate in size toward the centre. The clasp is a handcrafted sterling silver S-hook stamped 925. The total length is 59 centimetres. Weight 74 grams.

This piece dates to the 1970s and is consistent with South American artisan production of that period. Peruvian pink opal and pyrite is a celebrated natural pairing. Finding them together in a piece of this quality and length is not common.
